A detail is defined as an individual fact or feature, or is a small or minor part of something. Detail is a visual aspect of photography. The photographer uses detail to draw your attention to the texture or a small part of an image, making the viewer look at things differently, notice things they may not have noticed before.
Jo Whaley
I like the 2nd top one the most, the reason why to me the drawing has more effect and a lot of detail. It could be a photo shopped photograph. The photographer has used a large depth of field in these images to show the detail of the texture in the background. The third image at the top. the background to me looks like the texture and colour of rust. I will try and capture the elements of rust in my photographs as I like the effect and appearance.
Henry Troup
I like these images because I find them very interesting and unique, I think this photographer took these pictures at day-time and changed them into black & white to show the marks made in more detail.
The sand-marks in these pictures I think are not man made, they're natural besides from the one with the tyre marks. However, the marks next to the tyre marks are natural, showing the contrast between the two types of marks. The focus point of these images are the marks made and the colour of the tones captured.
When I look at this piece, I think this man's work is interesting because I've always been fascinated with sand marks and I've never seen any photographer do something like that.

phil Straus
I like the middle picture the most because it's the most creative picture. The exposure is great and the angle of the picture is on point. This image is also very clear because you can see all of the detail.
My work in the style of Phil Straus
I have used the filter on Photoshop to change the image to Black & White, also using the colour range to highlight certain areas.
Miyuki Ichikawa
Miyuki Ichikawa is a Japanese artist. Miyuki Ichikawa has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Japan Foundation, Toronto. She focused on detail for these images and the concept of layering images together.
Mind-Map
Test Shoot
On my test shoot, I have captured details of plants focusing on texture.
worst picture
This is my worst picture because I was trying to capture a tree. I did capture it but what made it bad was the white balance was not set correctly and it is out of focus.
Best picture
This is my best picture, I used a small depth of field and the background is out of focus. This draws the eye to the texture of the flower, showing a detail of the petals the different shades of pink makes the flower stand out against the dark background.
Test shoot II
For this shoot, I was capturing the lines of metal and the textures of rust.
Worst picture
This is my worst picture because there is no detail. The only thing it shows is light coming from a window and that wasn't what I was looking for.
Best picture
I think this is my best picture because of the detail I've captured. I used a small depth of field. I also like the detail of the water on the metal bar, it makes it look interesting and detailed.
Test shoot III
I took more detailed photographs of these flowers
Test shoot IV
For this shoot, I will focus on more detail.
Exam
In my exam, I've edited my photos using Photoshop. I tried layering, filtering and deleting sections using the influences of the artists.

Final pieces
In this picture, I used two pictures together. One is with the grid on the left, the other is with the vent on the right. I merged the picture with the vent onto the picture with the grid. I then cut out everything on the picture of the vent besides from the vent itself.
Evalutation
I have chosen the exam question "detail" and have created these pictures using Photoshop. I used filters and layers to create these images and make them similar to Phil Straus's work. In my shoot, I have taken pictures of everyday objects (things that we walk past everyday which we don't take much notice of). My final piece shows everyday objects and I've highlighted the detail that these everyday objects contain.
My favourite one which I've done is the 2nd to the last one. The reason why that is my favourite one is because it's the most well detailed one and actually looks like it could have been made by a great, famous artist.
